here’s what happened when jess took control of her own destiny!
We’ve been sending you these inspiration stories once a month now for a while, and I really hope they provide some awesome positive reinforcement of your decision to live life in a way that’s healthy, energetic, and low in sugar and carbs! Since I’m the one who sees these stories before I send them out to you, I can tell you I’m almost surprised at how they reinforce MY OWN determination to keep my promises to myself. This month’s inspiration is Jess (@lowcarbdashian on Insta), and what I love about her is the way it hit her that her well-being was under her own control. That she wasn’t somehow just destined to be overweight.
Here’s what she says:
Hey there! My name is Jess! I was always a chubby kid growing up and I had very little understanding of nutrition. For me, food was just excitement, comfort, and connection. Many of the people closest to me were overweight, and I really believed I was always meant to be bigger.I adopted terrible eating habits after college and my appetite continued to grow. I started cropping and filtering photos, wearing jeans in the hot Phoenix summers, and avoiding social gatherings. I tried everything from shots, ultrasound something-or-other, HCG, appetite suppressants, and super low-calorie eating. Not to mention expensive personal training. Many of these things worked—until they didn’t. I always gained back almost every pound I lost.I started Keto in October 2017 and for the first time, I no longer have to focus on the things I can’t have. Sticking to this way of eating for so long has been easy because of all of the foods I CAN have! I am no longer stuck with no options at BBQs, movie theaters, potlucks, or even drive-thrus.An important step for me along this journey was tracking my meals. I don’t do it every day, but committing to it for several months helped me understand macros, portion control, and how to make better decisions when it comes to food. I still make mistakes, but I’ve learned that weight loss is just the result of a commitment to loving your body and nourishing it well. You don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.
I’m giving Jess a big hug in my mind! I’m so grateful to her for sharing her story with all of us. I hope you’ll follow her on Insta (where she puts her weight at “10 lbs away from what I told the DMV” – haha – I love her).
In the meantime, thanks for being part of the Nush family and remember, Nush cakes keep almost indefinitely in the fridge or freezer so you can feel good about stocking up and never being stuck without low-carb options at hand!
